Abstract :

Education in every sense is one of the fundamental factors of development. No country can achieve sustainable economic development without substantial investment in human capital. Education enriches people’s understanding of themselves and the world. It improves the quality of their lives and leads to broad social benefits to individuals and society. Education raises people’s productivity and creativity and promotes entrepreneurship and technological advances. In addition, it plays a very crucial role in securing economic and social progress and improving income distribution. This paper will discuss the role of administrators in re-thinking education for Nigeria’s 21st century development. The paper will explore the indispensability of education to economic development. No economic development is possible without a good education. It will highlight that a balanced education system promotes not only economic development, but productivity, and generates individual income per capita. The paper will conclude by highlighting the importance of an effective administrative approach in re-thinking Nigeria’s policy on education for the nation’s economic development and for the future of its educational system.
